Are you in the same boat as me? It’s winter. It’s cold. It’s dark. And smoothies and fruit just aren’t cutting it for breakfast? If you answered yes to any of the above, then this post is for you! I’ve been craving warm breakfasts on these chilly winter mornings, and this bowl of deliciousness ticks that box (plus the healthy box and the processed sugar free box!).
Have you ever looked at the ingredients in the store bought breakfast cereals you buy? Or the amount of sugar that’s in them?! It’s pretty much like eating dessert for breakfast half the time!
I have been making my mums muesli for years now. When I started I included 1/2 cup of honey and 2 TBSP of coconut sugar as well. This was because I was used to ‘sweet’ cereal, and enjoyed it. I have slowly cut back on the amount I add and now only use one heaped tsp of honey. If you are trying to make the switch from store bought cereals to home made, try this recipe! Don’t be afraid to use honey and/or coconut sugar if you still want that sweetness. I figure it’s far better that than processed sugar in store bought ones! If sugar is something you are trying to cut out of your diet then you can slowly do so by cutting down the amount of honey/coconut sugar you add to each batch you make.
